ऐसी मान्यता है कि जब भगवान श्रीराम के अनुज लक्ष्मण, रावण के पुत्र मेघनाद द्वारा युद्ध में मूर्छित हो गए थे, तब भगवान हनुमान संजीवनी बूटी की खोज में द्रोणागिरी पर्वत जा रहे थे। इसी दौरान वे जाखू पहाड़ी पर कुछ समय के लिए रुके थे।
